ALBUM COVER DESIGNS

A musical friend of mine was putting out a new proiect and asked me to help with the cover art for it. The proiect was titled 'no man's land'. From that I began looking at ideas surrounding solitude and emptiness. I sought out bleak landscapes to shoot. | noticed how the colour of the sky and graffiti almost mirrored each other slightlv so I increased the saturation in order to enhance this connection. At first I was afraid this may take away from the bleakness of the photo, but the abandoned building provided enough of a representation of solitude. Having done this, there seemed to be something otherworldlv about it. almost sci-fi feel. so l used a font that would help amplify this idea.

This was another option I presented. I went looking for open empty spaces in mv local area. I came across this space under an overpass in Tottenham, London. The sofa alone amidst the chaos of the floor inspired a similar idea of solitude amongst disaster which one could argue is essentially what no mans land is. The space was clearly inhabited by people, from the various duvets and blankets strewn across the floor (though not in this frame); this seemed like a place to live out of necessity rather than comfort. Therefore the reality of the setting seemed to align thematically with the nature of the proiect. To emphasise the chaotic image, I used a clean font in contrast.

Having really enjoyed that project, I went on to set myself the task of creating more album cover art for fun. I took this image on holiday, I liked how in a singular image you could get a sense of the movement.
